Hail to the Chief of empty rhetoric

Here's a snippet from Obama's speech to the UN:

"And I pledge that America will always stand with those who stand up for their dignity and their rights — for the student who seeks to learn; the voter who demands to be heard; the innocent who longs to be free; the oppressed who yearns to be equal."

Peter Kirsanow found this comment interesting given Obama's lack of response when Iranian dissidents were fighting for their voice to be heard after the elections there. He didn't stand up with them, did he?

And what about right here at home? What about the multitude of people who marched on the Capital? We demanded to be heard. We demanded a response from our president. We demanded that he stand up for what is right, and we were ignored.

It's because Obama doesn't care. He is only willing to stand with you if it furthers his own warped agenda.

Standing with the Iranians didn't fit into his plan and neither did even giving proper acknowledgement to the (at LEAST) hundreds of thousands of people who marched for their rights in the Capital.

Is this unexpected? No. Despicable? Yes.

I guess you lost me on this post. Despicable? Why? The Pres didn't stop by & shake your hands? Maybe my memory is off (quite possible), but I don't remember Bush responding to all the antiwar protests. And there were some big ones (globally List of anti-war protests )

As far as not "standing up for the Iranian dissidents" after the election? I guess assessing a situation first to make sure you don't shoot yourself in the foot is not a good idea?
