State to cut off much less of a K

Christmas came early this year for K-12 funding, but the district will still have to tighten their belts provided the latest financial news from Sacramento.

In a press conference during the day, Governor Jerry Brown Announces $ 2 billion in cuts to public education, with approximately $ 49.5 million in cuts to K-12, far less than the nearly $ 1.5 billion K-12 cuts originally projected. It is roughly a half-day loss in average daily attendance.

K-12 transportation funding ($ 248 million) have been cut, and will leave the district to find a way to fund the mandate.

Almost all wounds trigger is discussed in the press conference, effective January 1, 2012, while the reduction for apportionments school effective February 1.

"These Cuts to universities, schools, they are not good. This is not the way that we want to run California, but we have to live within our means, "gov. Brown said.
