The investigation targeted male Sonoma County six weeks ago for alleged possession and distribution of child pornography grew from regional efforts targeting people suspected of creating or trade in sexual material involving children, authorities said.
Roundup served as training days for 21 law enforcement agencies from around the greater Bay Area by San Jose-based, federally funded task force of child pornography.
San Jose police Sgt. Greg Lombardo, Commander of the Silicon Valley Internet crimes against children task force, said the idea is to share techniques and to enhance the ability of enforcement bodies of the individual to search online for the offender.
Task force 8 in Silicon Valley is one of the nation's entire 61 files targeting peer-to-peer online sharing, investigative techniques developed from earlier when suspects are often identified through chatrooms bait operation, authorities said.
